Lyrics

The first time I saw the lady, she was crossing on the Delaware, with a rag-tag army out of Valley Forge, with freedom in the air. The second time I saw the lady, she was on a Pennsylvania field, flying high against a Rebel line, in a charge that refused to yield. She’s still stands for all that’s true: Freedom from oppression, freedom of expression, too. And she covers me and you, the beautiful lady Red, White, and Blue. The next time I saw the lady, she was flyin’ over Vietnam, Torn and bloody over wounded bodies, in a place they call Khe Sahn. The last time I saw the lady, she was flyin’ in a desert storm. Marching on Baghdad, pushing back an army, Who wished they’d never been born. Chorus: Bridge: She was pulled from the rubble of two, tall towers, By a firefighter’s bloody hands. She’s been burned on the streets of Tehran City while we watched it all on CNN. And I really don’t care if you call me crazy, But I’ll die with her in my hands. Somewhere in this country, a baby cries tonight While her daddy serves in a foreign land, caught in a firefight. And if he falls in battle, defending what is true, Heaven sees/ a soldier bleed/ Red, White, and Blue.
