Description
This song was my first take on a number of things. Firstly, it was my first slow song with clean guitar as opposed to overdriven or distorted. It was also one of my first to move away from the love theme that seemed to be dominating my music. With 'Helpless to You', I wanted to express that feeling of helplessness when a friend is next to you crying and the best thing that you can think to say is "There, there."
Lyrics
You sit alone beside me Your face come over red I might as well not be here To you I could just be dead I thought I could always find The exact words to say But now I'm completely lost And I should just fade away Oh, the words I have They mean nothing to you I wish that I could find The right ones to say Oh, you're still crying And I cannot help you When I see you this way A little part of me dies I feel so helpless When you turn away and cry Oh, the words I have They mean nothing to you I wish that I could find The right ones to say Oh, you're still crying And I cannot help you I might as well not be here To you I could just be dead... I'm completely lost And I should just fade away... You're still crying And I cannot help you... I'm so helpless When you turn away and cry...
