Porgi amor

This is an aria from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera "Le Nozze di Figaro". The character that is singing is Countess Almaviva and takes place at the beginning of Act II. According to the notes available, the Countess knows that her husband has developed a roving eye for other ladies of the castle, and is shamed and hurt by his neglect and deceit. Alone in her bed chamber as the act opens, she prays to the god of love to assist her in her hour of need.
