Childhood Dreams (Shades of White)

"Shades of White" is my metaphor for "Picket Fences"....a symbol of the conventional american dream. I dated a man who didn't want to be with me because I'm in the music scene - and that's not what he had in mind for a girlfriend/wife - despite his feelings for me. This is a song about how nobody should be judged on stereotypes...and I was angry at the time of writing it - angry that I was being judged on what I do, not who I am...and that way of thinking belongs "in heaven"....
