The song was written for and about my lady friend back when we started dating. I would arrive every Friday night and park in her driveway. She used to joke with me about "the strange pickup in her driveway". {As she was a widow and the neighbors were used to seeing her alone.} So she imagined she was now the talk of the neighborhood...and this is what the song describes in a funny way.
