Lyrics

Underneath the all night Mission Bowery No.5 A colony of past lives Lay littered in the streets Their tattered clothes and brown shoes The colors they wore then were all used The gutters now are their only pews for their drunken desperate pleas So may the rusted steel of freight trains Deliver us all from decaying The neon crosses are shaking as sparks rain overhead And they're sleeping under street signs And muttering their last rights The crowded mess is an awful sight for the average passerby Smoke Hounds there Drunken stares They're standing 'round Until the lights go down And they rest their backs on the I-beams And spit at the blood on the concrete They can't even stand on their own feet Still they ask for one more drink A home and a wife in the country How I lost it all is a mystery The vile and filth of this city Are my only neighbors now
