Description
In the gamut of songs I write, ranging from 100% fiction to 100% autobiographical, this story is a true one, written when I had to make the choice between playing my music, or living on my 40acre farm with my now-ex-husband. To stay on the porch and write, and not perform was not an option for me. It was a very painful time, and it took a while before I could sing this one in public.
Lyrics
YOU LEAVE One last look as you make your rounds to every room, upstairs and down. One last look at those precious grounds, You say goodbye to this dream you’ve found. One last look in the rearview mirror. Tears cloud your vision as you try to steer. One last look at a home so dear where you thought you’d stay for the rest of your years. But then you leave, you leave. You can’t believe how deeply your heart can grieve, but still you leave. You tried to be so strong through all the times you felt so alone. Nothing more to be said, to be done. You did all that you could do. And so you leave, you leave. You can’t believe how deeply your heart can grieve, But still you leave, you leave, With your eyes on the horizon and your heart on your sleeve,
