Description
The reason this song is called, "The Windmill" is because whenever we play the song live, I play it with my twelve string and the strumming pattern gives it almost a "swinging" feeling, such as a windmill does. The song talks about the brutality of war. The ending, which has a tribal feel to it, is in the perspective of a soldier and his thought when going into battle. It is the soldier's instinct, human nature and adrenaline pulsing through his veins.
Lyrics
The Windmill Frost, Ornella Verse 1: Woke up in the morning stared out to a field of burning The first battle had come to an end men with hearts and wounds you can't mend Take a look across the field shadows rise but the devil won't yield The men walk in deadly straight lines Muddy smiles but our teeth still shine Chorus: Mindless bodies just sittin' in a trench Everything’s gone but a tree with a branch I came in as a blonde haired lad Won’t leave unless it's in a body bag Verse 2: Here they are bayonets in hand We're not soldiers, just ordinary men Everybody's hopes are not too high Feet on the ground but our heads in the sky Chorus/Ending : Mindless bodies just sittin' in a trench Everything’s gone but a tree with a branch I came in as a blonde haired lad Won’t leave unless it's in a body bag (Stone people, Magic makers, Sending out the smoke above)
