This song was written during a chilly Midwestern winter. Within eight months of writing it I had broken up with my long-time girlfriend, quit my job, moved to Italy and started graduate school. This version was recorded a week before I left the United States, over a session of drunken debauchery at the Music Garage Studio in Indianapolis. It conveys exactly where all of us were at that point in our lives - and I find the crescendo at the end of the song captures the optimism we all felt going...
