When I start writing a song, I never know how it will end up. I was asked to write a song to go along with the topic of Remembering Who You Are for my church. When I started with the line. One day when I had fallen from a branch in our plum tree. I thought... "that's really cute but it doesn't have anything to do with remembering who I am. and the silent still voice in my head said... WRITE IT DOWN! I was as amazed as the next guy as to how this song unfolded.

One day when I had fallen from a branch in our plum tree. My mom reached up, picked a plum and handed it to me. She said, "Don't give up, even when your goals seem high, Cause the greatest things can happen, when there's a willingness to try. Man has soared up through the heavens, touched the moon and tracked the stars. Built rocket ships and telescopes, why, we'll see the face of Mars. And all these things were just a dream once, out of reach they seemed bizarre. But you can do most anything when you remember who you are. "Remember who I am?" I asked, wrinkling up my nose. "I'm just a little kid." I'd said, while wiggling my toes. Mom said. "You're more than what you think. I know you're pretty great. God made you in his likeness... You have the power to create!!!" "You can soar up through the heavens, touch the moon and count the stars, build rocket ships and telescopes, you could see the face of mars." All these things were just a dream once, out of reach they seemed bizarre, but you could do most anything when you remember who you are. Just a little dream, with the notion that it's true, can set the wheels in motion, there's no end to what we can do." So I wiped the juice off of my chin and looked up at the sky. Thinking really hard I asked. "How do airplanes fly?" Mom said, "It's more that lift and thrust, wings and flaps and run. The reason the darn thing flies at all, is someone thought it could be done!" We can soar up through the heavens, touch the moon and track the stars, build rocket ships and telescopes why we'll see, way past Mars. And all these things were just a dream once, out of reach they seemed bizarre. But we can do most anything when we remember who we are. Yes, miracles can happen. When you remember who you are!!!"
