Biography

8 Lives Spent can be described as a high-energy, blue-collar, roots rock band with a good time feel. They mix up a four-hour show blending unique originals with obscure B-side covers long lost in the vaults of rock-n-roll. They firmly stand on the ideology that people that lay down hard-earned money to see a band should walk away with a memorable experience, and with that they thrive to be the hosts of the party. Described by many as “Southern boys with a kick-ass punch”, 8 Lives Spent is not your typical bar band. The show is unique in the fact that the band comes out of the gate with hard-hitting originals while, at the same time purposely steering clear of any cover material that has been beaten to death by mainstream radio or other bands. Covers range from vintage Johnny Winter, to classics such as Montrose and UFO. They even do their own hard-hitting, heavy version of “Walking After Midnight” by Patsy Cline, so it's needless to say that the last thing you can expect from these guys is the norm. What you can expect is a night of non-stop in-your-face rock that involves the crowd right from the opening song. As one fan put it, “These guys are definitely not your run of the mill bar band”. In December of 2008 the band released its debut CD, “Self-Inflicted Wounds” engineered by Billie Spencer of Nostalgic Records. Shortly thereafter interviews ensued by local rock station WWRT who added “Distorted”, “Mucho Cervasa, and “The Drought” to their regular rotation. Soon to follow was Fatcat Radio who routinely features cuts (we love ya Swede). Classic X rock radio in Cincinnati interviewed the band and featured two cuts during the band's Rezonate Music Festival appearance. In February 2009 the CD was picked up by UK's Fireworks Magazine who gave it rave revues, and in May of that same year the band was chosen to be one of the inaugurating acts for Summer Jam I featuring national recording artists LA Guns. In August of 2009 cuts from the same project were featured on the Bob Rocks show at 101.5 radio in Greencastle Pennsylvania as well as WJCU rock radio in Cleveland Ohio. Jinga Radio (an internet station with 7 million listeners) jumped on board at the same time featuring the yet to be released “Licka Sto”. The coming months will see the band working on its latest project “Outcast” that is scheduled to be available for digital download by December 2009. The band will be in the studio throughout the winter and will be once again hitting the stage in spring of 2010.
