January 2007 saw the launch of Kitchener, Ontario’s Pop Infused Alt-Rock quartet Breaching Vista. Since their inception, BV has played over 150 shows with such notable acts as Theory of a Deadman, Jack’s Mannequin, Hedley, The Sheepdogs, Matthew Good, Marianas Trench, Arkells, Finger Eleven, Our Lady Peace, The Reason, and many more. The band’s catalogue hosts two records, both recorded at Beach Road Studios with Producer Siegfried Meier, whose work has been recognized on the Billboard charts. The release of 2008’s “Breaking The View” EP, paired with their rock-solid-crowd-pleasing live performance, helped them land the closing ceremonies of the Canada Day Celebration in Waterloo, ON, for 3 consecutive years (2008-2010) to an audience of 10 thousand plus (10 000+) spectators each year. Their music garnered media attention with print, online, and both college and major radio stations, which helped lead to signings with Canadian indie label Bright Side Records, and UK indie label Engineer Records. Breaking the View also won the “Best New Alternative Rock” award at the Barrie New Music Festival. Their 2011 sophomore release “Vera City,” was met with great acclaim, and its first single “Sleep” charted for 24 weeks on Canadian radio, reaching #108 in Active Rock. BV supported the release with spring, summer, and fall tour dates throughout Ontario, including festival stops at Canadian Music Fest, Rock The Mill, and Sudbury Summerfest. The release of Vera City landed the band a cover story with ECHO Magazine, and Velvet Rope Magazine listed Vera City in the Top Ten Indie Albums of 2011. They also appeared in a CBC television commercial with an invite to perform the VIP party at the Gemini Awards, and CBC quoting online “These guys are gonna go somewhere!” Fan favorite song “Nervous” quickly became their number one requested song live, and made Top 5 on ExploreMusic.com’s “The List”. It is projected as the second single off Vera City, with plans for a summer 2012 radio campaign to coincide with summer tour dates. Armed with a plethora of material, a pair of independent labels for support, a continuously growing & loyal fan base, and the drive that many bands aspire for but only few possess, it’s only a matter of time before Breaching Vista is a household name in Canadian music.
