His artistry ranges from film and illustration to being an admitted author, poet, and fashioniesta but, his main mastery is highlighted in his passion and unique touch for music. As a producer and lyricist, Illa finds himself as an incomparable voice in touch with something greater than his music and himself. There’s a source of infectious energy feeding his creativity, drawing his talents into one gifted spirit and visionary, Cel-Man Iller. At first glance, the projects are both heavily inspired by video games, trap beats, and grimy lo-fi bars. Each track is also a showcase of the talent and chemistry coming out of the Metro-Detroit area. It’s time to stop sleeping, give the projects a spin, and get familiar with the DREADSPERADO collective so you can say “I knew them when.” Action Bastard by DREADSPERADO #iTunes#Amazon #Spotify Looking first at the album, Action Bastard is described as the “more live side” of the artists, and it definitely sounds little more reckless than W.C.H.B.M. From the first track we are hit with a video game reference, a menacing raspy voice, and a wild winding beat. Cel’s verse on this track shows off his technical skill, with him landing in the slight spaces of the percussion. His verse could go bar for bar with any other up-and-coming Detroit MC and knock them out. The intro track is the perfect showcase of what’s to come: solid songwriting and solid rhymes. Other standouts on this project include “Knot Used to This,” where Cel plays with the spaces on the beat to add some swing. The verse is airtight, as to be expected, but vocals on this track aren’t your typical straight-forward rap vocals. In fact, for most of the album the collective sound like they’re extra-terrestrials as their voices are mixed in and out of the beat. It’s the alien sound of the vocals and varied beats across the project that give Action Bastard an experimental and definitive edge. By contrast, W.C.H.B.M is a free project with a more cohesive sound. The project still features the alien sound of Action Bastard, but with more nods to noise rap. “Conscious” features a pulsing industrial beat and some wild vocal manipulations to help build the noisy atmosphere of the track. This project really goes all-in with the grimy lead melodies. The ricocheting siren on “Tiger Shark” adds swing, propels the track, and acts as a good base for some seductive raspy vocals. W.C.H.B.M does a good job of occupying the sonic space of both horror and intrigue. It’s a spooky sound, but I want to know more. Both of these projects are fantastic looks into the local scene of the Metro-Detroit area. The sounds on both projects innovate on the staples of Detroit hip-hop, carving out a new space for the DREADSPERADO collective to make their mark in their city and in the genre overall. Between the variety on Action Bastard, and the developed sound of W.C.H.B.M, there’s something for every hip-hop fan on these two projects. So stop sleeping and get to know the new voices coming out of Detroit. Written By: Donna Claire   What began as a new style of rap for Cel-Man Iller, has become much more. While in the midst of recording “ACTION BASTARD” & “W.C.H.B.M”, Cel came upon a handful of artists from the Metro-Detroit area that had lived a struggling life. Through art they chose to incorporate the struggles of everyday life to influence the wave of the sounds they produced. In respects, DREADSPERADO is a collective of artists of many different media’s. Most composed with video game samples and trap over tones. Front-man, Cel-Man Iller, Tha Immortal will be accompanied with the following acts which make up the collective. (Borthers) True Signature & Lethargic Louie. Izrael Stahrwalkr, Dre Tha Gremlin, Immortal Storm, ZZ, Zakum 41, Weazle, Sandy Baby Aye, & Gio Blauze.   Some might say that his diversity stems from his multicultural background. Being of African, Japanese, and Native American decent, Iller is accustomed to pulling from different influences within himself to bring forth something truly authentic. Cel-Man Iller’s musical life  started in his adolescence when his uncle gave him a bass guitar on which he would strum everyday after school. This habit roused in him a love for jazz that inspired his joining an orchestra class in Junior School as he went on to build a provisional studio of his own while forming the band “X-Ponents”. In 2007, Iller released his first album, MalFunK-NatioN, under his production company, Pro Bo Records. It featured songs “4-2.187” and “Gothman” and immersed Cel-Man in an internal voyage to better himself as an emcee. While perfecting his lyricism, Iller was also churning out instrumentals under his production alias, Zakum 41. Under this moniker, he completed notable works such as “Zakum 41 Presents The DEMO’s” and “The Zakum 41 B-Sides/Previews”. These projects showcase Iller’s versatility in a variance of genres including techno, trance, and hip-hop influences. In the following years, Iller continued to greatly expand his catalog of collaborations. He’s worked with artists such as Gio Blauze, Stripes Solid, Kid Crisis Beats, Sampler Jazz, Ace English (GREMLIN), and Immortal Chaos. Cel-Man has since decided to strictly focus on his solo career though managing a few more collabs with Pyro The Manic, Ether, ArmoKid, and Sik Lib on lost recordings.   In 2009 Iller traveled across the country on his first tour, “La Vagabundo”, later named “Persona Chaper 1 La Vagabundo”. This project saw him gain a greater fan base across the U.S. Later in 2012, Iller fed his listeners with an album consisting of 240 songs which he completed over a span of two months. His inspiration came from worries of the Mayan Prophecy bringing the worlds end. 2016 showed a more revealing Iller when he released “I Wish My Brother David Was Here” in honor of his recently deceased play-brother.
