Alec LaBelle a thirteen year old singer-songwriter from the Chicago land area has played guitar since he was five years old. Alec grew up with the roots of classic rock and became very familiar to bands such as AC/DC, Rush, Led Zepplin, Boston, and many others. Alec’s music is strongly influenced by Howie Day, Matchbox Twenty, Boys Like Girls and Jason Reeves. “I started writing songs by the age of six,” Alec recalls. By the age of ten Alec picked up the electric guitar, the highly famous “strat”, which taught him the arts of power chords, solos, levels, and more. Alec’s debut EP was self-released on July 31st of 2009. The EP includes Beloved, Try, Strings, and Run Away. “Beloved” is about a girl that no matter what she does, if she messes up, picks the wrong guy, or does anything out of the usual that she regrets, no matter what, she will always be loved, but not always by the right person, and then she realizes her next mistake. “Beloved” is really supposed to be with a space, but I chose for it not to be just for it’s originality. “Try” is about always giving up to fast, you always want to let go just because of the smallest problem, and if one of your friends takes a fall, you try to help them get back up on their feet, but they fall again the same way. “Strings” is about having all these rules, and you have one night to have fun and forget about it and you just want to do it up, but your to scared. It’s about overcoming that fear and having fun and being free for one night. “Run Away” is the title track of the EP. It’s all about when you know what’s coming in the future, and you know that it’s not good, so it’s all about getting it out of the way and getting it out from your mind and stay clear of it,” Alec said.
Alec will be hitting the road this spring doing a midwest tour.
