Bio With the once-great dinosaur bands fading into extinction, music is dying with it. In this time of peril, this planet's future lies in the hands of the arcane ALGERNON. Algernon shines as the last bastion of what once delinated great music. Day by day, they are imprinting their raunchy and entrancing music into the soil of this withering and purposeless world, revitalizing it. Their ability to bring people together through the intensity and integrity of honest music and the ability to say FUCK REALITY to celebrate the now invites all of us to a celebration that demands the world's attendance. Currently Algernon consists of Phil Boos on lead guitar, Ted Weindorf on drums, Lee Renaud on vocals, and Roy Jackson on bass. With the release of Algernon's Ep in the winter of 2011 the band has performed with a variety of acts such as Taproot, Crud, Marc Rizzo (from Soul Fly), NiCad and Who's this We. These however are only a few of the numerous acts Algernon has had the pleasure of performing with. Each member, a musician in his own right, is a passionate contributor to Algernon’s composition catalogue. Playing and composing music creates the dialogue for the band , and their ongoing conversation is evidenced with every performance. Heavily influenced by Detroit funk and metal, Algernon embodies a punk attitude with one foot stuck in the muddy banks of the blues. As a very connected and in-tune group of people that have worked together since they were young teenagers, they hold the fluid aspect of their music in their very souls, and with each performance find their catalogue of originals constantly evolving. A quick look at the attached resume will demonstrate the strides these young musicians have made – all before turning 21. They find their deeply held philosophies to be their muse and their motivation.
