The AL SECEN JAZZ WORKSHOP is comprised of three members. Al Secen on vibes, Scott Murley on guitar, and John Tschirhart on bass. Together these musicians produce a professional jazz sound that is instantly enjoyable.. Their repertoire consists of traditional jazz standards as well as some original compositions. While many groups today attempt to overwhelm the listener with a “wall of sound”, this trio maintains the traditional jazz sound that is both subtle and pleasing to the ear. Although these three musicians hail from different parts of the US, happenstance has brought them together in the Tampa Bay area where they have enjoyed upholding the classic jazz sound since 2003. In spite of the intricacies inherent in jazz, these three musicians possess a rare chemistry that makes them sound as though they had been playing together since childhood. The mutual friendship and respect for each other’s talents provides for a seamless interplay between the instruments. Al is originally from Pittsburgh, Pa. Scott is from Plymouth, Massachusetts. And John is from Detroit Michigan. All three were seasoned professional musicians before arriving in the Tampa Bay area. The trio would like to thank Nate Najar, who engineered and edited this recording. Nate is one of the finest guitar players in the Tampa Bay area and a good friend. We would also like to thank Glen Murley for designing the artwork for the cover. We gave him free reign to come up with the design and he really came through.
