Greenfield, IA

Biography

I didn't grow up in poverty. I don't come from a ghetto, no, I don't even come from an urban area. I'm a country boy born and raised in the rural community Greenfield, Iowa - the county seat of Adair County. I was born in a hospital that once housed one of the largest Ku Klux Klan meeting places in the state of Iowa. I grew up in discrimination. I'm more than qualified for Hip-Hop. No, I've never killed nobody or even shot a gun. I don't sell drugs and have never even touched the stuff. I don't make a million dollars. I barely even make thousands. I don't sell out arenas, but I pack county fairgrounds. I'm content with what I do and that's all that matters.I'm a nineteen year old emcee - the voice of the young people - who despises many of my peers in Hip-Hop. I don't write music to get people on the dance floor. I don't crank anything or expect you to clap your hands to my music. I don't get loose or have the desire to put "lil" or "young" in front of my name anytime soon. I don't write music about dancing or clubbing or drinking or having sex. I wrote a song about the negativity of suicide, teen pregnancy, crime, drug abuse, and sexual transmitted diseases at the age of sixteen and shocked the world. They said "a kid this young isn't supposed to be writing music about these subjects. Okay, so I'm just a bit controversial and most of you don't like it. Then don't listen. I didn't get into the music business to please anybody.I'm Khan-X. It's short, it's simple, it's real. I don't plan on making millions of dollars or selling millions of records. Matter of fact, I'd rather stay in the underground because that's where real music resides right now. Real Hip-Hop doesn't talk about making money, or driving a nice car, or having sex with the hottest bitches in the club. Real Hip-Hop has a message. A message that goes beyond clubbing, drinking, smoking, and having sex. I'm trying to bring the real lyricism back. If you don't like that then don't listen. Don't buy an album. Don't come to a show. I don't need one million friends on Myspace. I don't need a fan base. I got my lap top, one microphone, and a program called AcidPro. Music is the only thing that ever made a bit of sense to me. I would be upset with myself if I let this unintelligent music like Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris become the future of the most important and impacting genre in the history of American music.
