Since the summer of 2002, Andy has known that God called him to one purpose: leading the church in meaningful and reverent worship of our God. He has been on a journey of many high’s and low’s and has found himself always coming back to the same conclusion about what worship really is. After serving for a year in Seattle with a church plant, Andy discovered that his views of worship were totally skewed and off point. “I used to think that God needed us to worship Him. That God was some being that couldn’t wait to hear us sing songs to Him. But I have learned that worship is not something that we do to please God or to make God happy. Yes, it definitely does make God happy when we worship Him, but we read in His word that the rocks and trees will worship Him if we don’t. Worship, in essence, is how we respond to the things that satisfy us; the things we find our delight in. Therefore, it is for OUR GOOD to find our delight in God and to worship Him alone.” Andy moved back to Atlanta with this new sense of purpose and driven to glorify God in every aspect of his ministry. He has been constantly writing and composing new songs of praise and adoration to God to help others worship in truth. God has taken Andy to many places and has given him incredible opportunities to lead the church into a whole new kind of love encounter with their Savior. “Two scriptures that have really spoken to me over the course of my ministry are Galatians 5:1, “…it is for freedom that Christ has set you free…” and Psalm 140:12, “I know that the LORD secures justice for the poor and upholds that cause of the needy.” “Whatever we do, we have freedom in Christ to glorify God in whatever capacity our gifting allows. We worship God with the talents He gives us. So find freedom to do so! And I know that there is one thing that God really cannot stand: injustice. There are people who need the help of those who can offer it. We, as a church, need to stand up for what is right and fight for the hearts and lives of those who cannot fight for themselves.” Andy has worked with such organizations as Young Life, FCA, Campus Outreach, The Navigators, North Point Ministries, Adventures in Missions, as well as many churches around the southeast, and is excited to work with other churches and organizations that desire to see the glory and majesty of our God exalted.
