Are We Brothers? mix the ferociousness of The Clash, the intelligence of Beck and the melodies of Sly Stone. LISTEN TO ARE WE BROTHERS? Biography: BLAST OFF! Last November a band was formed. After playing together in different bands for almost ten years, Lasse Boman decided to involve Shaka Loveless, Rongo and Birk Nevel in an ambitious project that had been on his mind for some time: A quirky and explosive pop rock group with a stripped-down attitude to music and a ferocious energy. The name; Are We Brothers? Only half a year passed from that day before they dominated the Danish airwaves with the massive hit Come Around. This was the spring of 2008. Come Around was the first single from their upcoming album and the song immediately hit #1 on the National airplay chart. How could it happen that fast? THE PERFECT MIX Lasse grew up listening to Velvet Underground, The Ramones and The Clash. These references remained buried for some years, while he played with the other members of AWB? in the band Gypsies. Here the musical outlook was hiphop-flavored, influenced by bands like The Roots. These two strands are woven perfectly together in Are We Brothers? honest mix of old and new. This is also what makes Are We Brothers? a band with a superior swing. When the entire poprock scene (from Bloc Party to Franz Ferdinand) seems to embrace the funky dance elements of the late 70s, this band has the edge of being conceived with "groove" as a part of their musical DNA. RECORDING THE ALBUM After hearing the two first demo songs recorded in Lasse's apartment, the Danish producer Fridolin (The Fashion, Figurines, P Diddy) signed the band to his own label Speed Of Sound. The album has been recorded and produced with Fridolin as mentor and producer, and the songs bear the distinct mark of being worked through from the bottom. This album is a consistent, massive monolith of masterful songwriting and explosive energy caught on tape. Come Around was one of those two first demos, and as soon as it was recorded and mixed, it was released. It turned out that the Danish public agreed with Fridolin and Speed Of Sound, and the press is quickly lining up, praising Are We Brothers? blow-me-away live shows. This has happened fast, but it's already about time. This is something else. This is Are We Brothers?
