Thank you so much for your support & being a part of a dream Much love, Michael Armon (ArmonLegMusic) LOOK FOR ME ON FACEBOOK & BECOME A FRIEND. My bio begins like this: I’ve been playing music for most of my life, over 20 years professionally, performing for live audiences as well as studio productions. I consider myself a songwriter, instrumentalist, producer, arranger, composer, and performer, with quite a few Jazz, Club/Techno, R&B, Rock & Hip Hop songs under my belt. I’ve played in many bars and nightclubs in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Chicago Illinois, Iowa, and Michigan areas from 1982 to 1987. I’ve also performed at Milwaukee’s Juneteenth celebrations, African World Festivals, Summerfest, Local & Midwest Contests, etc. It all began at the age of 6. My parents decided I needed to take piano lessons, you know, to keep me out of trouble. I hated it! Learning classical music, Bach, Beethoven, Choplin, etc, but they always told me I would appreciate it when I got older, which I did and still even more. At 14, I went to my first concert, George Benson “Live.” I was blown away; that was when I knew the guitar was the instrument for me. I begged my father to get me an amp & guitar for Christmas, which he did. I disappeared to the basement for almost a year, practicing & practicing; again, it kept me out of trouble. Even though my friends thought I was dead (laugh). Anyway, I started working for a clothing store, Johnny Walkers, that summer and bought every album George Benson ever released. I studied the guitar until my fingers bled. But that wasn’t enough. That fall I purchased a bass guitar. Learning the bass took about 6 months, now that I could play the guitar like George Benson (thanks to private lessons from the great Manty Ellis). At 18, an artist known as Prince hit the music scene with a vengence. I was & still am star struck over what he was doing musically, then & now, playing (21)multiple instruments, producing & composing his own songs. So I said to myself, I need a drum set & a 4-track reel to reel to complete my studio set up. To make a long story short, learning how to play drums wasn’t hard, since I had friends who played professionally at that time, so they influenced & encouraged me. At 20, I was hanging in front of a bar and a guy I knew came up to me with a roland-808 drum machine and a Teac 4-track reel to reel for sale (another buddy of mine told him I was looking for this particular equipment). It was quite affordable! I nearly passed out (laugh). At 22, I joined a top 40 R&B band called Erupshun, formally known as Step by Step, playing lead & rhythm guitars & vocals. It was here I learned the art of touring and performing live before audiences. It was an experience I will never forget. At 25, since I owned a 4-track reel to reel and having the ability to play multiple instruments, I decided to leave the band and start writing, arranging, composing & performing my own music. The rest is history! There’s a lot more to tell, but I’m sure you’re bored by now, so I’ll end it with this.
