Art Benson started taking guitar lessons at the age of twelve. Less than a year later, he found himself with a harmonica around his neck, singing Beatles covers in coffee shops. He started writing music at the age of thirteen when he formed his first band: Silver Lining. Acting as the front man, he won second place in a local battle of the bands as the youngest competitor ever.                                                Upon entering high school; he started a new project with his older brother on drums. Playing all originals, winning numerous band compititions and were gaining recognition.  The three-man band known as The Wayves  won a national battle of the bands, resulting in the honor of playing at the famous Webster Hall in New York City.                                                    After the graduation of his older brother, Art returned to writing and performing on his own. He spent a great deal of his free time learning how to use recording software to produce his own music. Before heading to college, he finished a seven-track demo recorded entirely in his bonus room.                                                Art is now a freshman songwriting major at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. You can see the  The Art Benson Band, all Belmont music students, play every Saturday afternoon at BB Kings in Nashville, Tn.
