We are A Semester at Sea, and this is our wonderful voyage we've put together since the summer of 2009. ASAS is Kyle Culver (who's writing this), Matt Hasenmueller, and Jamie Berger. Long story short: I was looking for a vocalist to complete this crazy idea I had for a band, and met Matt at a bonfire on July 4th, after originally not planning on going anywhere due to Rocky Mountain Fever (yep, seriously). We started to mess around with his songs at the bonfire and I knew Matt was the exact person I was looking for; wanting the same direction, the same pursuit of making catchy, exciting music. Jamie (drummer) and I met through mutual friends and after a failed band prior to ASAS, and we began working under the moniker "This Resonance" in February. It was in May we had changed the name to A Semester at Sea, looking forward to a different direction. Once Matt was on board, we proceeded with a month long recording endeavor, self producing all eight of the songs on "Everyone Is Anyone". From there, we did our first tour, an acoustic jump around the midwest titled "Coffee Shops, Campfires, and Crowded Rooms", appropriately labeled for all of our different musical backgrounds. And that brings us to now; the school year and autumn are setting in and we're writing brand new material. We hope you enjoy this wonderful experience as much as we are.. this is our pursuit, this is our voyage. This is A Semester at Sea.
