Attalaya, although a relatively young band in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina have the sound, and maturity of bands ten years their senior. Being compared to such names as Brand New, Death Cab for Cutie, and Radiohead, they've crafted a blend of indie and progressive rock that no one in their hometown (or anyone their age for that matter) can seem to recreate or match. Performing alongside acts such as All Get Out (Favorite Gentlemen Records), and Parachute (Island/Def Jam music group) Attalaya's live shows have become a staple of high energy and emotion. Blake Monroe (vocals, guitar), Lucas Arambula (bass), and Mark Kendree (drums) put everything they have into every performance and never disappoint. Having released their first EP "Escape" in the fall of 2008, it was voted number 5 in the top 5 albums of 2008 by scenesc.com. Having received positive reviews on the album Attalaya gained the attention of srsly? records, a new label with its roots in Columbia, SC. Their second release, a split EP with other local favorites the Artichokes is due out in late 2009/early 2010 on srsly? records in which they will tour extensively in the summer of 2010 to support it's release.
