I've known on some level my calling would have something to do with music since I was 13, as far as I can remember. Until 2006 or so, however, life had other plans for me. I've known on some level my calling would have something to do with music since I was 13, as far as I can remember. Until 2006 or so, however, life had other plans for me. It was around that time that I was fascinated by a small Casio keyboard my uncle got for his birthday. I'm sure I annoyed him quite a bit asking to play with it until I got a couple of keyboards of my own. I made several tapes of mostly improvisational compositions before and during high school, but never tried to take it anywhere. I was mostly interested in just being able to play for my own expression. As a young adult, I oscillated between two universities before finally graduating from American University in 1999. Not long before graduating, I got married, and to make a long story short, that didn't work out very well. While in that period of my life, I worked at various types of computing and IT jobs, including IT coordinator for VSA Arts, freelance programming for Aquent/Consumer Electronics Association, senior web developer/webmaster at a DC-area university, and IT specialist for the Library of Congress, where I ended my professional IT days with a great loss of respect toward the system and the US government. Today I work full-time on my music, using equipment I was able to acquire with money I made working at the LOC (at least I got that, and a MINI, from this job, if little else). I've supplemented this equipment gradually over time by scrimping, saving, and being very patient, as hard as that sometimes is. I generally stick to writing lyrics about what I know, which is good advice for all writers, I suppose. I've always been fascinated by synths and except for small, simple guitar parts here and there, and of course vocals, my work consists entirely of synth compositions. I allow anything and everything I think sounds good to influence my work.
