Spawned out of the crazy notion that four buddies in high school knew enough about punk to start a band. Quinn Grodzins, Malcolm Gillooly, Zalman Orloff, and Jack Gaebler came together in late 2009 for our first incarnation, the Violators. This band wrote and recorded a song at our very first practice. This song was never to be played again. After discovering that there was an already well known band with the same name, we set out to think up another name while still writing songs. After about a week or so we settled on the name Axis. As the school year progressed we wrote about six songs and learned to cover two others (Warsaw by Joy Division, and The Stooges' I Wanna Be Your Dog). Towards the end of the year we collaborated with some other BHS students and got booked for a couple of gigs. Those gigs, however, never happened because of bad scheduling and (in one case) our singer at the time (Grodzins) backing out. Grodzins quit after disappointment surrounding these cancellations and due to creative disputes with band songwriter, Malcolm Gillooly. But the rest of us decided to keep on trying. We kept on practicing throughout the summer have been playing the occasional gig since late August of 2010. We are currently working on our EP, Space Cocaine, which will be released in the summer of 2011.
