MESSAGE OF THE MOMENT: ONLINE MUSIC/MARKETING- Truth be told, the net is really only good at specific intervals(mostly in posting or storing your music) in regards to artists. The MySpace, Tweets, and Facebooks really are n't the way to go unless you set up an account promoting you(or your band) that is ran by someone (that you trust)other than you. HOW & WHY?-At anytime the owners or administrators of the site can manipulate the artist's page and creative world(like how major labels often screw artists, so be well informed before you sign with anyone), which truly goes against what art is really about. For example, I was for many months the top hip-hop/pop artist on MySpace and it was purely because of the merit of my art and creative spirit. Well, MySpace was n’t able to make money from my success because I’m indie(and if they’d asked me, I may have cut them in, but now, NEVER), so they started manipulating my account without my consent or knowledge. (Actually, they had to think I would figure it out unless they are really brain dead, because anyone who cares about their creative progress will notice the details of it.) Well, after I destroyed the account of over 100,000 friends(mostly female-;)), MySpace bought iLike, who was about to be bought out by Facebook(and I would’ve ran that s*** too). Well, of course in my right and reasonable mind, I concluded they did it to purposefully stop me or any indie artists from truly taking over the industry. Little do they know, it’s only a matter of time. All in all, just know that the online music sites should really only be used for sharing your music, and personally, if you can, build your own site. Yeh, it costs money, and it takes time, but it frees you into your own creative process(which is priceless), not the enslavement of someone(s) who really is n’t an artist at all...;) P.S. I know that none of the rap artists on this site can flex with my skills as a producer, M.C., DJ, manager, teacher, dancer, and director(and mover of stars-yeh, you heard it right); if there is an artist doing all those things like moi in a manner better than moi, then I'll quit.
