The "Keep It Real" Rapper BayBrotha a.k.a. AKIL is a west coast artist / producer with a commanding voice, Akil is a powerful presents in the rap world. His message is strong and his music is compelling. Raised in the Bay Area Akil left home at 13 and has lived in some of the nations roughest neighborhood. Like many of his peers, he was forced to hustle on the streets to survive. Akil says that his survival was the result of dreaming big and never giving up on his music. You will visualize along as his storylines talk about the senseless violence in the urban community, manhood, relationships, and real life. Some people call him a "Conscious Rapper" but Akil likes to refer to himself as a rap artist that "Keeps It Real." Akil founded an organization called "The Urban Fatherhood Project" as a result of watching his friends get killed, or just lost to prison, poverty and illiteracy. He is currently working on several project that will bring opportunity to young people. Akil also has a pretty nice singing voice. Most of the choruses on the Serious CD was performed by Akil. He's also a talented songwriter working with artist in Sacramento, the Bay and L.A. Akil's music has been featured on 2 movie soundtracks and is currently #5 of all time on the Garageband.com rap charts. Akil says that his mission is to change the tone of the violent and degrading music our youth listen to. With this attitude, Akil is fast on his way to being a leader in the community and the music industry.
