Marcus ''Benda'' Boyd, born to a mother who was a licensed hair stylist/entrepreneur and father a musician & hustler gave him a very humbling balance. Though growing up in Chicago’s famous and diverse Wicker Park Neighborhood, he was still faced with gangs and other harsh realities often leaving him the ultimatum to make some very regretful and difficult decisions. Fed up with the streets he began hanging out with a crew known as “Lerical Tribe” which featured his older brother. Following in the footsteps of his brother Marlo, he came to find his true gift
Rocking a crowd at an early age came easy for him as a hype man for several artists and groups, but he wanted and needed to show his creative abilities on his own. His passion and determination of an entertainment career landed Benda on the ''Jenny Jones Show''. His lyrical energy and performance on the show sparked the attention of ''Red Zone Entertainment''. While still searching for the perfect label situation, Benda continue to work with acts such as Do or Die and the rap duo Boo & Gotti. The tables finally began to turn with an encounter with Chicago Music Mogul Burundi “Bun P” Partlow'. He offered Benda a chance to prove himself with an opening performance for ''Twista'' and Benda brought down the house. Impressed with his talent, Bun P was instrumental in building Benda’s career so he placed him in some colossal situations. Benda worked with Super producers Kanye West, and Steve Stone Huff. He was feature on a Violator Allstar DJs Mixtape with the song entitled Rub 1 Out (Xavier Exon Feat Elephant Man & Benda). Benda was also given an opportunity to perform for ''Wayne Williams'' Sr. Vice President or A& R for Jive Records who loved Benda’s vibe what he heard. Benda began to feel he was truly ready for his shot at the spotlight
Bun P offered Benda his first major deal with Legit Ballaz Records and KOCH Entertainment as the fourth member in the famed Legit Ballaz Camp in 2005. Benda’s first national release as part of the group ''Legit Ballaz'' was released Feb 21, 2006 entitled ''THA TRUTH''vol.4. With the Album pre-selling an estimated 13,000 copies, the label was in no way disappointed in the overwhelming response it received for their newest arrival. Since this date he has been in numerous videos including ''Barnfire'' for the Midwest monster group ''Crucial Conflict'' and PHEAVES “Ride It Like A Motorcycle”. Benda has recently performed in Kankakee, Joliet, Chicago HOUSE OF BLUES, Excalibur, Radio Star, VAiN, Enclave, Chicago Puerto Rican Day Parades 2005 and 2006, the official back to school Juke with D.E.RECORDZ, Cap 1, and Crucial Conflict & Pheave.
