From Mull, a small island off the west coast of Scotland, Ben has been playing guitar since the age of twelve. After school he moved to Edinburgh and studied music for four years at the Edinburgh College of Contemporary Music whilst playing in The Mr Pitiful Soul Band, which toured extensively around the UK.  He spent six years in Edinburgh maturing his playing with various artists and styles before moving to London to attend the London Guitar Institute.  Following his studies he focused his career in Jazz Fusion, playing with a number of bands in London, England before relocating to Cincinnati, Ohio. Now, after years of hard work playing around various circuits and recording with a multitude of artists he has a wealth of experience and a highly competent attitude towards music and performing. DEBUT ALBUM Anthems for the Weather has a smooth Jazz fusion sound that has been carefully articulated to appeal to the everyday listener.  Already accepted and live on Pandora, the tracks are being played alongside well-known Jazz artists such as Mike Stern, Pat Metheny and Wes Montgomery. The top selling single from the album, ‘Call me when you get there’, has reached the far corners of the globe being picked up in Australia, the UK and Japan.  It is also the most streamed track on Pandora and Spotify.  Pandora describe ‘Call me when you get there’ as featuring smooth jazz elements, a sparse tenor sax solo, riff based rhythms, strong melodies and a groove oriented approach with insistent backbeats. Recorded in Svendborg, Denmark and produced at Tom Thumb studios in Ohio, the tracks leveraged talented session musicians that worked with Ben to achieve the musical balance he was looking for.  Co-Producer Tom Hauenstien describes the album as “Fresh and exciting, helping jazz appeal to a wider audience” Composer, Lead Guitarist and Producer, Ben Treeby, said he used his transition from the UK to the US as inspiration for his debut album.  He said “Jazz is a complex and beautiful genre; Anthems for the Weather was written to appeal to the everyday listener by focusing on the melody, a good use of percussion and ultimately delivering grooves and harmonies that keep you wanting to hear more.” Ben’s musical influences include the likes of Mark Knopfler, Dave Gilmore, Mike Stern, Weather Report, Les Paul and Eric Clapton. The album is currently being performed by the Ben Treeby Jazz Trio in venues across the Greater Cincinnati Area.
