BIANCA ROCHELL COMBINES SPANISH/AFRICAN-AMERICAN ROOTS TO MAKE SULTRY, SOULFUL MUSIC Born and raised in Oklahoma, Bianca Rochell hails from a rich musical background deeply rooted in church, family and school. She got her start singing at 5 and began playing the flute at 12. Bianca attended Langston University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. At Langston is where Bianca first began reciting her own poetry at multiple spoken word venues. Knowing one day she would achieve greatness as an entrepreneur, and that music was always in her heart, it was inevitable for music to be an intricate part of her life. One day, while having a deep conversation with Myeisha Meeks, a close friend, regarding some difficult times she was experiencing, Bianca voiced to “Mye” that she had so much to say but didn’t know where to begin. Mye then simply stated, “just write it all down.” PERFORMING AT MANY DFW VENUES It was then when Bianca began writing her own lyrics and music, spilling everything over from her heart onto paper. A few months later, Mye invited Bianca to Open Mic Night at The Prophet Bar in Deep Ellum/Downtown Dallas (February 2008). Little did Bianca realize that would be her stage debut. She began performing regularly at The Prophet Bar singing songs like: “Killing Me Softly” by Lauryn Hill/The Fugees, “Next Lifetime” and “On & On” by Erykah Badu, “ Say Yes” by Floetry, and her absolute favorite “Whenever You’re Around” by Jill Scott. Engaging the crowd with her sultry, soulful, but sweet voice, aside from The Prophet Bar, Bianca has also performed at many DFW venues such as: Firewater, Tephegez, and Sankofa. RECENT COLLABORATIONS Bianca has collaborated with Grammy Award Winning Producers/Musicians Shaun Martin, Jah Born and R.C. Williams. She has also performed with Claudia Melton (Musician/Lead Vocalist of The Gritz Band) along with other producers, vocalists, musicians and performers, including Marcus Roberts, SoulWonder, Bobby Gibson, AddLib, Ace, John Carruth, Demascus, Perreaon, Nu Breed, Shannon Brown, Perb Boss, Kinyanna, Michelle Tease, John Bailey and Quentin Moore. Bianca is heavily influenced by Jill Scott and Erykah Badu. She plans to work with various artists throughout her music career. Stay tuned for her highly anticipated new single “Feelin Funky” following her debut CD, “Sweet Escape” is coming soon.
