I am a local historian, family historian, musician(of sorts!), and general layabout! I have been singing since I learned to talk, but didn't take up the guitar until I was 16. I have never had any lessons and I can't read music - everything is played by ear. I started singing in a pub when I was 17. At 19 I was a resident singer in the local folk club. From folk music I graduated to country, and played with friends at local pubs for a few years before forming a trio called "The Reapers". We toured local pubs, clubs and hotels singing mainly country music, with a little bit of rock & roll thrown in for good measure. About 3 years ago I bought my first keyboard - a Yamaha portable grand - and started adding to my repertoire. Early in 2008 I upgraded to the Yamaha Tyros workstation, which is the instrument I use for most of my recordings. I also acquired a Tanglewood guitar to replace my 1950s Hofner Senator and this can be heard on my acoustic recordings. All the recent tracks are recorded on a zoom-H2 portable recorder and edited using "X-OOM Music Clean" software on my laptop PC. I enjoy travelling, meeting people - especially long-lost family, seeing new places. Having been born and brought up by the sea, I love the coast, the open countryside, and walking on the hills. I also love mountains, although there aren't too many of those in Kent, so I enjoy visiting my new-found family in Oregon as often as I can. I recently completed a 4-week, 14-state tour of the mid-west, with my new Epiphone Masterbilt in the back of the car, playing a public performance in Georgetown, Texas, and two private parties in Minnesota and Montana. Videos from my Georgetown performance can be viewed on my YouTube channel or MySpace.
