Born LaDeidra McCoy but also known as 'BLACC Diamond', is hip hop's new voice for today's evolving women. As a result of her father's (Dr. Timothy McCoy) untimely death, this St. Louis native has been rapping and performing for eleven years and says her main goal is to "bring reality back to hip hop." She's hard at work breaking the mold of the stereotyped female emcees, of being either extremely hood or overly sexual, and settling in to relate the life and struggles of the typical black woman. BLACC Diamond admits, "One of my personal struggles has always been my weight. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and my weight had reached a whooping 240lbs!" Now at a mind blowing 160 lbs, the diabetic free BLACC Diamond is a resident of Atlanta, GA and has set her sights on recording her debut album and causing a major buzz in the industry. Her goals have less to do with making change ($$$) and more to do with creating change. "After a series of performances in St.Louis as well as shows with Derrty Ent., I felt it was time for me to explore outside of my hometown. So I moved to the Atl and I've been pretty busy meeting and networking with music insiders," say BLACC Diamond. With venues such as Club Crucial, Apache, S.C.O.R.E.S., Throwbacks, The Gate, The Mint, and several other hot spots under her belt, BLACC Diamond is already making a name in Atlanta as a hot emcee. Most people, whom have heard her music, would agree that BLACC Diamond is gangster. When asked about this stereotype, she replies, "I am not gangsta. I'm just B.L.A.C.C," referring to the acronym which is the first part of her stage name, meaning: Bold Like All Christ Children.
