Lee, a past student of Norman Manley High School, began his professional music career in 2000, at a time when many considered him young, but despite the struggles both personally and musically, he has fashioned a career, which can only get better as time passes by.
Considered as the ‘dancehall version’ of international R&B artiste Drake, the 24-year-old is poised to stamp is class in the music industry with some very eye-catching and witty lyrics. In 2003 Black Mattic formed his own record label ‘Official Hitz Entertainment’, which is a reflection of the deejay’s passion about music.
His first hit single Never Give Up, was produced by 3RE-R and released by his record label in April 2010. His moniker, Black Mattic, was given to him by close friends due to his easy yet impressive lyrical flow whenever he is voicing inside the studio.
Tracks like Walk and Wine, Work Hard, Wi Struggle and Favourite Girl were all released between 2009/10 and have been getting rave reviews in the Caribbean and the U.S respectively. He has also released a compilation dancehall album entitled The Coliseum, with members from “Di Nation”.
The slick-talking singer said he’s ready to explore the world with his music but would also welcome any other job opportunities such as movie and commercial endorsements, which will, in reality, enhance his image.
Black Mattic knows his musical style is of no comparison. In his latest studio effort, Mattic shows his versatility with his debut album Hot Grabba, which was release on his birthday on August 17, on all online media outlets.
The album, which boasts 12 tracks, has four major hit singles on it Far Away, Never Give Up, Feel Good and Numba one, and his own words Black Mattic says the “ the most important on the album is the realistic feeling that the listeners gets.”
Black Mattic wants to continue make good music that articulates his life story and inspire upcoming artistes on the verge to success.
