Serita grew up in Ravenna Michigan, a small country town just outside of Muskegon Michigan. Serita is the baby girl of a large family of ten siblings. Serita has been singing since she was just four years old. Serita started out in the church choir. Her roots expanded out when she first sang a Jimmy Reed song that meshed into other great songs by monster artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Betty Davis, Chaka Khan and many others that are huge influences in her music today. She is truly gifted and an all around down to earth person! SERITA AKA (BLACK ROSE) is the Hip-Hop, Neo Soul, Blues, Rock, Funk, Songstress extraordinaire that is setting the Midwest on fire. Her life long singing career has put her on stage with artists such as Brian Vander Ark of The Verve Pipe, Patti LaBelle, James Brown and Talib Kweli. She has also sang for the “Queen of the Blues” Koko Taylor, who embraced her to say, “ this girl right here can sing! ” Serita performs with her current band “Serita’s Black Rose” (&The Disciples Of Funk) and the Hip Hop band “Pnorph Star” which is her equally talented baby brother Orlandin M. Crowley’s band. She’s the first lady of Pnorph Star perfecting timeless tunes such as - Closa, Where I’m From, Don’t Take It Personal, (Omerta album) If U Only Knew, and All The Time (If U Only Knew album). Serita coined the name “Serita’s Black Rose” after waking up to a tv show on how Blues came about. Back in the day in the deep South they threw these juke joint parties and dances called Black Roses. From that very moment she knew that she was a Black Rose! Serita’s first up and coming album will resonate the planet with feel good vibes and soulful energy that will surely blow you away.
