Mike Stenberg on guitar and vocals blends his roots style with Maria’s violin phrasing that is magnetic and energizing. Mike was raised in Seattle and relocated to the San Francisco Bay area shortly after the 1989 San Francisco earthquake. Mike’s influences include Johnny Cash, Gordon Lightfoot, Chris Issac, Junior Brown, Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, John Prine, Jimmy Buffett, & Willie Nelson to name a few. Mike brings the experience of performing at clubs, festivals, & events throughout the west coast for many years. A songwriter by nature, Mike brings his original songs to Bona fide's repertoire in addition to performing his interpretation of classic favorites.
Maria, a San Francisco native, began her musical journey at an early age. She learned to play the guitar in grammar school and in high school Maria learned to play the violin where she performed with the school Orchestra. From there Maria joined a Mariachi Band that she played professionally with for 15 years. Maria’s influences include Stephan Grapelli, Sergio Mendes, David Grisman, Bill Monrore and Jerry Lee Lewis. You can hear the duo performing “Milk Cow Blues”, “Besame Mucho”, and their original “Lonesome Restless Heart” along with many more at venues around the San Francisco Bay area and beyond.
