bri da mac (a.k.a. Briana Danielle MacDowell) “She is so passionate and real!” Women in hip hop have been described by many as nearly non-existent. Granted, it takes a very strong female to compete with the men in the field, but Briana MacDowell, aka bri da mac, is the mack mama. She’s the real deal; a prolific writer, a red hot performer and a formidable producer. Bri was born in 1983, in a transitional area of Atlanta called Forest Park. She moved around in her young life a few times enabling her and her mother to find a better life. These shared spaces are where she began to draw and write about human tragedy, love, and triumph over adversity. At age 6 she was writing stories, and by age 8, she was writing songs with three verses and a chorus. A big dreamer, she knew she was destined for greatness in this life. “That was great, keep doing your thing” – Whitney Houston after a performance at Apache in Atlanta Her album credits to date include: writing and co-producing 9 of the 16 songs on her first CD, titled aptly, Mac Mama. Her musical knowledge enabled her to write sheet music for her engineer; she was able to hear the beat she wanted in her head, then wrote it out, not knowing how to use the equipment. Since then, she has completed three HOT songs with Mindzai Studios. She performed at venues including the Apache, the Mirage, Central Park Bar and Bistro, Sugar Hill, Mirage, Corner Tavern, and Big Daddy’s, and numerous other Atlanta clubs, with rave reviews for this new artist. Bri’s interest in life and how life treats children also makes her a huge children’s advocate. Her goal is to make this life better for children worldwide. Battling the harsh realities of trying to succeed in this business is something that would have crushed the normal person. Bri has proven to be not only a survivor; she lets life fuel her creativity and then shares her experiences with her audiences that have a real connection with her words. Bri currently trains at Dance 411 studios, and she works with some of the best choreographers in the business. Her styles range enormously: ballet, jazz, hip-hop, ATL Crank, salsa, belly dancing, dancehall reggae, break dancing, Go-Go Stilleto, and pole dancing. She's a QUADRUPLE threat: writer, dancer, actress, and m.c.
