Buildings Breeding was never meant to be a real band. Their songs were created as a bunch of love letters Christapher Larsen made for Melanie Glover while she was overseas. Buildings Breeding was never meant to be a real band. Their songs were created as a bunch of love letters Christapher Larsen made for Melanie Glover while she was overseas. Buildings Breeding settled in as a fake myspace.com band from Chicago featuring four members — all alias for Larsen. With great response, the band finally took its live form in April 2006 in Davis, California with Chris Larsen (vocals, guitar), Melanie Glover (drums, vocals), Evan Hart (guitar) and Chris Vogel (bass), who later joined in August 2007. Playing gigs locally for a short time before gaining national attention, the group was picked up by New York-based label Mushpot Records and after joining up with Mushpot, their self-titled LP Buildings Breeding debuted at #6 for most adds in College Music Journal's Top 200 chart, staying in the Top 100 for over two months. Flooding the blogger world with critical acclaim with their first release, Buildings Breeding was dubbed "the world's biggest band this week" by blog site idolator.com, among other positive titles, and had their song "Stacking Up Reasons" featured on MTV's show "Human Giant." By March 2007 the group had gone on two smaller U.S. tours, ultimately leading them to South by Southwest. Following their LP, Buildings Breeding released an E.P. titled Beesting on Larsen and Glover's own label Bearded Beauty.
