“A working man who works his plan, own the label run the clan…” J.Smo spits on the BUNKS song “Gladiators”. This father of 3 is “determined to make it, no matter the odds”. Emcee, Poet, producer, songwriter, indie music promoter, anthropologist, website design, video editor, blogger; in other words, this man wears many hats. J.Smo is one-half of the BUNKS duo molding the foundation for the instrumentals, the rhythms, the feelings, and the stories. BUNKS – Bringing Unmatched Noise Knowledge & Sound – began releasing music in 1999 and have a deep catalog of music  in their crates. “Everything you hear in rap songs, I’ve done…but now those times are over, I’m back to the music,” J.Smo reflects. “The Joshua Story has been a two plus year process. This album is the story of everything that happened to me from the time I left home (in Coffee County) until I moved away from Tennessee in August 2013. Some of the stories I tell, I’ve never told my family… This album is also about remaining true to the roots of Hip Hop music and the culture that created it. Too many neglect the importance of remembering their origins.” Originally from Manchester, TN, he recently relocated to Northern California and has started to play an integral part in the operations of the Sacramento based indie hip-hop label, MPC Recording Company. J.Smo has also been putting the finishing touches on his debut solo album, The Joshua Story (#thejoshuastory). J.Smo actively supports and promotes the indie music community through Middle Tennessee Music and Sactown Hip Hop. He has been mentioned in the book Your Band Is A Virus by James Moore, interviewed by LA Weekly, and his writing has been published on Ariel Hyatt’s’ CyberPR blog as well as Music Think Tank. In 2013, he self-published and co-authored Getting Your Music Heard Online alongside C Bret Campbell of Small Barn Sound.
