Born April 23, 1986 as Gary A. Cromartie Jr Lil’ Bus describes his youth as “very broad.” He always found himself in huge fights, even shoot outs, repping for the Northside of Tallahassee, FL. Beginning his freshmen year of high school, Lil’ Bus began playing sports to channel his anger.  Throughout high school Lil’ Bus continued to play sports, yet hanging in the streets. His senior year he was injured in a state championship football game. It was that injury that resulted in his hanging in the street full time. Lil’ Bus was charged 3 times for possession of a weapon and was even shot. Searching for a purpose, he began rapping with his cousin and close friend. He recalls, “I was sorry at first.” After 2 and a half years of rapping with his group, Lil’ Bus found himself needing to go solo. “If you associate yourself with the people that are actual lyrists, your word play and delivery becomes more dynamic.” Lil’ Bus describes his music as different. The combination of gripping hooks, flow and lyrics distinguishes Lil’ Bus from other rappers.  Lil’ Bus draws his motivation from more than just money. He is also motivated by “a sense of accomplishment that you can only feel after having to come up on the block, or when you had to hustle, grind, work that 9 to 5, or whatever it is that you do.” He wants his generations to come to enjoy the same success and stress free living. A clear vision of what he wants his audience to feel, gives Lil’ Bus his greatest appeal.  When the music begins, “there is a sense in my gut, that starts deep.” Creative writing is where the hand, the head and the heart meet.  “It always starts with that energy, and I just write…. Playing with the words, and flipping them to the paper. I want my music to move people the way it moves me.” He is ready to get in front of the game. Lil’ Bus is the future, the new sound that’s moving bodies in the clubs everywhere. He is the new sound of hiphop.
