Carya was born in Chicago, IL to Lucy and Elijah Holmes. Because of a God-given gift of music that ran in her family; at the tender age of 10 Carya Holmes would intrigue audiences all over the Chicago land area with her established vocals and melodious delivery. It was then that she realized her ability to touch people’s lives through song.
Shortly thereafter Carya Holmes joined the JV Richardson choir under the pastoral leadership of Rev. William R Lott Sr. who nurtured her spiritual and musical growth. Pastor Lott would later appoint her as Musical Director over the Youth Voices of Praise, Praise Team and the Mt. Sinai Mass Choir, where she would oversee the shaping and development of the music department. This was only the beginning of many great things to come.
Many people began to notice her vocal talents and began employing her participation in various weddings, showcases, banquets, and church functions. Carya has also traveled the United States and abroad with several accomplished Artists, including; Grammy Award winner Donald Lawrence, Smokie Norful, Darious Brooks, Avant,Staind, Michael McDonald, De’Andre Patterson , Yolonda Adams, Hezekiah Walker, Richard Smallwood and Kim Burrell to name a few.
Carya’s future goals and objectives can be summed up in her own words: “I hope to reach the masses through the universal language “Music” and to sing songs that will encourage, embolden and inspire the world.
