Formed in 2004, the vision of founding members was to simply create music from the heart and for the mind. When asked to describe their sound, they’re not quite sure how to answer. Neither they nor their “Ceiling Fans” as they are affectionately known, are quick to compare themselves to other bands, but whispers of YES, Pink Floyd and Renaissance have been heard among the crowds.
And the crowds at the Ceiling Unlimited shows are growing. In 2008, over a series of concerts spanning nine months, the band was voted into the North American Finals of the Emergenza International Music Festival, beating out approximately 1,300 original bands from the New York area and triple that number of bands from the entire eastern seaboard; but that was just the beginning.
Jon Anderson of YES and a panel of VH1 Talent Executives selected Ceiling Unlimited as finalists in the “Your Move with YES” contest to perform with YES during their 2008 Tour. The band beat out thousands of contestants from North America to become one of three finalists before YES was forced to cancel their worldwide tour due to Jon Anderson’s health concerns. Though disappointed by the turn of events, the band was satisfied to know that the judges are fans too.
Amy King (vocals), Nancy Scorcia (vocals, acoustic guitar), David Hartwell (electric guitar), Chris Brower (bass), Tom Bitondo (keyboards) and Jason Brower (drums, percussion) create the sound that is Ceiling Unlimited.
