In the live music capital of the world, where talented musicians are about as easy to come by as Monday night drink specials, Rob Cooperman (a.k.a. Sideshow Rob) has been holding his own and making a name for himself for over a decade. Rob's feet hit the musical streets of Austin, Texas in the fall of 1999 and his talent has been quenching the thirsty ears of downtown ATX drinkers ever since. Cooperman brings unmistakable soul and originality to his listener. The first experience of Rob's music will provide you an aural sensation unlike anything you've heard before. A deeper trip into the content of his lyrics will instantly connect you on an emotional level with the passion this performer sees in his everyday life. With little more than a stage and a guitar, Cooperman irresistibly commands the attention of any person within earshot. Back him with a band and his hungry-looking frame will bring a stage presence massive enough to entertain patrons of the largest venue. While studying at the University of Texas, Rob formed his first band, Jacks & Sixes. After only 2 short years together, a breakout performance at the UT Battle of the Bands won the group a slot at the 2001 Forty Acres Fest, playing alongside multi-platinum Grammy Award winning act Soul Asylum. Rob's later project, the American Sideshow, proved to be a local favorite and built a large loyal following with their performances around the state of Texas. In 2004, the band was a top 3 finalist at the national level of the Rolling Rock Town Fair Five competition, after claiming local and regional titles over 4,000 other competing bands. As a veteran to the Austin music scene, Rob co-created the weekly "storytellers" acoustic showcase 'Shut Up and Sing' in 2007. Rob's efforts with SUAS gave his musical peers the opportunity to express a side of themselves previously unexposed by typical live performances by sharing the inspirational stories behind their songs. Cooperman's musical stylings transcend musical labels and refuse to be bound to any one genre. The nature of his music cannot be summarized and placed into any single category aside from artistic excellence. His gripping sound and thought-provoking content will captivate you and take you on a journey to a place never visited, yet strangely familiar. The lyrical commentary on his everyday observations of the world speak to you in song that which you may already know, but had not the outlet to express yourself. Songs about his personal life will draw you in just close enough to breathe into your heart and soul the feelings of love, sorrow, happiness, or regret that inspired their very creation. The experience of Rob's music affects many people in many ways. Some may find a toe-tapping, knee-shaking, hip swing groove that will brighten up the dullest of nights. Some may become starry-eyed fools while falling in love with his romantic style and onstage flirtation. The luckiest of listeners will simply find a truly original artist who creates from his heart, communicates in a language fluent only to your soul, and leaves you loving life as much as he does.
