Robert “Arshon” Miller, or Choice, as he is known by his self given street pseudonym, is not an easily discouraged artist. Born and raised till the age of fifteen in Las Vegas, Nevada with his mother and five younger siblings before being forced to leave by a juvenile judge and sent to stay with his father and four older siblings in Alexandria, Virginia, Choice has overcome a lot through his love for making good music. Though he has always possessed a natural talent for writing, it was this relocation that opened his eyes to a talent and craft for writing music. Eventually, picking up the art as more of a way to vent about his own hardships and losses, he quickly began to establish a fan base in the surrounding neighborhoods and at the high school he attended. In 2004 he started rapping and recording with an already known local group, ‘ALK’ (All Like Kings) as Arshon, where he debuted on the mix tape, ‘The Alleyways of Alkatraz’, a collaboration with another local group, Alleyway. In the summer of 2008 the ALK dropped the Double V album and DVD. It was at this point that Choice realized very quickly that his talents and his ultimate goal at becoming a force in the music industry were far beyond the group’s own, so he left the group to start his solo career, which at that point he started performing as the assumed CEO and sole artist of Four 20 Four Entertainment as Choice. Choice and the ALK. His style is more east coast in a lyrical sense but his delivery is more mid west, since he has the frequent tendency to rap at a faster tempo then most east coast artists and west coast artists. It comes as a shock to people when they hear his flow and then find out he’s from the west coast because his style of delivery isn’t laid back and smooth, he’s more ‘in your face, this is how it is’, and he leave’s little room for questions once he spits the words out. His flow is constant, but, upbeat and that has played a great part in keeping his fans listening and wanting more. You can’t really compare him to any one person in the game currently because he has a wide range of versatility and utilizes that aspect of his talent often. So his sound isn’t easily categorical. He’s been known to take inspiration from alternative rock, pop, R&B, even country but, he is definitely a rap artist. What sets him apart from other rappers is his ability and willingness to evolve and adapt lyrically and stylistically. He’s aware of the ever changing ears of rap fans and he understands that a style of flow is nothing more than a fad, it may be in today at 1 o’clock and by 4:30 no one is listening anymore. He’s also very hands on with his music and how it’s promoted. Some artists would rather spend tons on letting others promote them in various ways, but him, he’d rather put in some foot work and utilize his own fresh ideas of promoting. There has never been any big talent come out of the Aye City (Alexandria) and it is a strong belief of all that know him, that, Choice will be the first from the area to have a major breakthrough in the rap game. He has a marketable life story to tell lyrically and marketable face and body. Though he is often compared to 50 Cent, he has gone on to let it be known that he is here to make Choice a household name by his own talents and in no way does he intend to get attention only because his physical build is so much like someone else’s, who is already at a point that he’s just trying to reach. And to be perfectly honest, he looks better than dude and has more talent. If you are going to risk spending hundreds of thousands of dollars launching and marketing a new artist, then why not cut the risks by making that artist one who already has direction and a talent for writing hits and catchy hooks. He has over 3 albums worth of great material already, experience performing and excellent stage presence. He has the versatility needed to survive in today’s growing market and the right business mind to make something out of nothing in a business that has seen way too much money wasted on what was believed to be an over night celebrity, only to be a one night hit. A good investment is one that you can say you’re getting money that is residual from, and that’s what we are all in this industry to make, right...Change is good but Choice is better.
