Chron Goblin was formed in early 2009 by guitarist Devin “Darty” Purdy, vocalist Josh Sandulak, and drummer Brett Whittingham with the intention of creating some dynamic and unique rock tunes based in the traditions of early heavy metal and classic rock, yet developed with a distinctly modern and fresh approach. After writing a few songs and trying out a few bass players, Chron Goblin added Richard Hepp, like the other members, a fellow University of Calgary graduate, to complete their line-up, and they journeyed forth to independently record and publish their 5 song self-titled EP over the winter of 2009/10. With the release of their first EP in early April 2010, Chron Goblin quickly set their sights on the road and undertook their first road trip with a show at the Trailer Park Boys comedy tour after-party at the University of Manitoba campus bar in Winnipeg, where they got into some trouble with Mr. Lahey, Randy, and Corey of the TPBs. Following their run-in with Sunnyvale's finest, Chron Goblin headed back to Brandon, MB, where they played a fierce set at the North Hill Inn, entertaining a raucous and rowdy crowd of moshing and body-surfing Manitobans until 3:00am. Upon returning to Calgary, Chron Goblin focused on playing locally at such prestigious venues including The Palomino, The Distillery, Vern's Tavern, Dicken's Pub, The Drum and Monkey, and Shuckaluk's Pub. Chron Goblin also ventured to Canmore to play the Canmore Hotel, and in support of the Revelstoke-based clothing company Somewon Snow, they played Edmonton's Hooliganz Pub and Revelstoke's The Regent Hotel for the Somewon Snow 2011 clothing-line release event. In response to their live performances and reviews of their EP, Chron Goblin has received a slew of positive press in local, national, and international media, including such publications as FFWD Weekly, BeatRoute Magazine, Pitch Black Magazine, Absolute Underground Magazine, (Cult)ure Magazine, Audio Distortion Magazine, Metal-Rules.com, and The Soda Shop.com. Currently, Chron Goblin is in the process of finalizing material for their upcomming full length album, set to be released for summer 2011. Stayed tuned for the best in heavy-groove rock n' roll!
