Jacoby H Pegues, better known as Coby Tha Paypaboy, was born July 14, 1986 in St. Louis, Mo. Like his siblings he was born on the North side of town, but spent some of his growing years on the South Side as well. Jacoby H Pegues, better known as Coby Tha Paypaboy, was born July 14, 1986 in St. Louis, Mo. Like his siblings he was born on the North side of town, but spent some of his growing years on the South Side as well. After being reunited with his father when he was 14, he found that he had 3 younger brothers he’d never met, Herman, Cartez, and Davion Burnett in addition to the 3 siblings by his mother.
Coby has always been a fast learner and he learned how to ride a 10 speed bike at about 4 ½. He also learned skills to make money, so long before he was old enough to get a job he would do yard work and carry groceries in for the elderly people in the neighborhood. He had early dreams of being a football player and dominated other schoolyard kids in his preteens. Behavioral problems in middle school caused him to transfer from school to school.
In October, when his mother entered a rehab for her drinking addiction, he was forced to live with his Aunt Linda who put him out 2 weeks later for reasons he didn’t understand. He was forced to move with his father, Herman Burnett Jr., in North County where he graduated from Hazelwood East High School.
After high school with no constructive activities to occupy his time, Coby was arrested for possession of marijuana. The charges were dropped because it was a first offense but 6 months later he was arrested on weapon charges. The 4 charges were unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, possession of a concealed weapon, and possession of stolen goods priced over five-hundred dollars. With four felonies pending Coby was looking at some time, but got released on a technicality a few days later when it was discovered that there were false allegations made by two detectives.
Finding a full time job curved his illegal activity, and in his time off he would collaborate with his best friend Fedarro aka FreQbeatZ , who is one of the hottest producers in St. Louis and respected internationally via the world wide web. He was 17 when he recorded his first mixtape song but he still viewed music as a hobby and not a career. Then at 19 he went back in the lab to write and record his first original song “Where Eva I Go” produced by FreQBeatZ. It got good feedback from family and friend so then on he stepped it up. A couple months later he formed O.T.C. with his brothers HB and Tezzy B. The rest is history in the making.
