Portrait of Constant Drift

Constant Drift

About Constant Drift

Dublin, Ireland

Solo artist Matt Drift aka Constant Drift is starting to create quite a buzz. With his slick, warm and original productions it is no surprise.
Based in Dublin, Ireland Matt is no stranger to the global electronic music scene having produced and remixed for many artists and record labels over the years.
Starting his musical career drumming in bands in the 90's, Matt traded his drum kit in for a pair of turntables and hasn't looked back.
DJing across Europe at free parties and underground club nights Matt played for many years dedicated to delivering music for the crowds of party and club goers and not for money or fame.

Following completing a Degree in Sonic Arts Matt was head hunted by a small production house as a composer and audio engineer in early 2000.
Turning his talents to producing and writing music, Matt wrote and produced many hours of music that is still to this day broadcasted all over the globe.
Matt's original sound world generated a storm and led the way for many TV channel brands and adverts across the globe.

Where possible Matt managed to collaborate and work in the dance music scene.
One collaboration that rocked the dance floors was Matt's remix of Lenny Fontana's "Light My Fire" featuring Byron Stingily.
Other works included a remix of ex React Records Artist and DJ - DJ Blu Peter "Change Your Mind", Matt also produced bootlegs of Anastasia "I'm Out of Love" and ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man"
DJ Boy George praised the Anastasia Bootleg whilst the ZZ Top Bootleg rocked and continues to rock clubs all over the globe

Having spent several years writing music for TV and Film Matt found it hard to dedicate his time towards his passion of DJing, producing and remixing Dance music.
After working in a production house for several years Matt packed it in to pursue his original goal of writing music for the sake of it and to travel and enjoy life.

A few years on and Matt aka Constant Drift is back and focused on spreading his sound across the globe once more. Matt has had many people over the years try and pigeon whole his music, is it Trance?? Is it Progressive House??
Having written and produced many styles of electronic music over the years Matt believes music should be about the sound and not the genre.
He feels many dance music producers write music for sales and take a methodological and/or formula based approach to writing music for labels.

So what is different about Constant Drift?
Constant Drift is a fusion of organic and electronic sounds produced over intelligent beats.
Using real sound bites from nature, layered on synths and sometimes strings Constant Drift has a unforgettable sound.
Focusing on 2 different clear approaches, Constant Drift loves creating more chilled tracks as released on his new album "Distance" with tracks "For He Cry's", "Distance", "Offshore", "Sunspots" and "Black Roses".
The other approach is geared towards the dance floor with floor fillers like the haunting "Deeper" and kicking "Eternity".
Both tracks fuse trance and house sounds together adding a depth and intelligence to the sound.
Matt works with various vocalist's and rappers currently including the award winning singer song writer "Tanya Walker " the amazing rapper "Sule" and "Jimi" a talented up and coming singer and song writer.

Whats next for Constant Drift???
Constant Drift has a pile of remix requests in and will be working with Dance Music Label Ananas in January 2010 to create some original and remixed club tracks for release early next year.
The new Constant Drift chill out album "Distance" is released via online stores right now and finally, Constant Drift is putting the finishing touches to his live set due for tour next year.
