Bio: DA HOT SHOTT: Every so often a new artist arrives on the scene with an energetic and fresh style that makes others draw to them. There swag and style embodies greatness and their presentation is just so contagious. Some call it hot, while others say it is a onetime phenomenon. But immediately upon hearing the music you know their destined for fame. When you put it all together you have a young multi-talented artist that encompasses this description completely. He hails from the southern parts of Florida and he goes by the name "Da Hot Shott". Da Hot Shott was born Zackariah Latson on March 31 1988, in South Florida. Hot Shott began his life in a neighborhood located on the infamous MLK Boulevard, where he was raised by his mother and step father. Due to hard times Hot Shott and his family moved from one impoverished and crime infested community to the next. As a result, diverse life experiences are carved into his soul from living in multiple cities throughout South Florida. Growing up Hot Shott found an interest in music and later joined his churches choir. As he matured his mother placed him into the school choir to help keep him out of trouble. Hot Shott was known for being a class clown, which caused some of his teachers to dislike him. Hot Shott contemplated being a comedian until he found an interest in rapping at age 11. However, at the same time R&B music sparked his interest and it was what he enjoyed the most. Some of his R&B music influences were artists such as Jodeci, Bobby Brown, New Edition and Michael Jackson. Hot Shott began perfecting his craft and style by performing in school talent shows and local events. At age 13, Hot Shott's progress was brought to an abrupt and painful stop with the death of his Stepfather, due to a heart attack. This crisis left Hot Shott and his siblings traumatized. As a result, Hot Shott's grades dropped and his behavior worsened. His mother was called to his school countless times throughout his remaining school years up until his graduation in 2006. It was then when Hot Shott seriously pursued a career in music as a rap artist. Hot Shott joined a two man rap grouped called 2 Figgaz. At the time he went by the stage name Young Penny. However, the group didn't last long at all. His main hip hop influences were Juvenile, Ludacris, Nelly, and Outkast. But to no avail, Hot Shott's big brother Loose kidd, who was known for his creative production skills throughout Palm Beach County and South Florida, began helping him perfect his craft. But once again Hot Shott ran into another road block, when Loose Kid and his production partner Yella were signed to a production deal with Pretty Ricky's Record label Blue Star Entertainment International/Music Royale. Once again a situation out of his control left him all alone on his own. But this time around Hot Shott took the time and perfected his craft. A year later Yella returned and signed Hot Shott to his Southern Minds imprint. His first solo song was titled "Where It All Goes Down." In this song Hot Shott displays his experiences related to where he grew up and the crime and violence problems enmeshed in his community. The name DaHot Shott stemmed from him being constantly asked to explain his original stage name. So, to eliminate the questions and to put the past behind him he named himself Da Hot Shott. Since the name change Hot Shott has put in a lot of work in the studio and on the road. He has either opened up for or performed with artists such as Webbie, Jacki-O, Ace hood, D.J. Chipman and Trina. Hot Shott is currently working on an upcoming mixtape project, titled "Hotter Than Hell," which is scheduled to be released in 2009.
