With influences that range from the blue-eyed soul of the 70s to the powerful female rock vocalists of recent years, Dakota Brown emerges with a modern sound that is distinctly her own. Hailing from Hannaford, North Dakota, a small town where school concerts, family weddings, and the occasional Star Spangled Banner rendition are the extent of the local music scene. After graduating from Augustana College with a degree in Business she made the decision to embrace her passion and pursue her dream of singing full time. Dakota honed her performing skills first in downtown Minneapolis, the birthplace of such legendary artists such as Semisonic and Prince, and then further developed her voice in Phoenix’s burgeoning music community. She released her debut album, FATE, in 2009. The collection of uplifting and inspiring songs showcases her clear, authentic vocals while conveying a sense of hope and understanding for today’s troubling times. In early 2010 Dakota relocated to Los Angeles, CA and looks forward to exploring and discovering her newly adopted city and vice versa.
