I began playing the guitar when I was a teenager in Clarksburg, WV. My interest in modern rock music is what inspired me to pick up the instrument. After a couple of years I began to get bored with playing exlusively hard rock. Playing the guitar made me learn to appreciate other types of music. I began playing southern rock and blues. It wasn't long before I knew that I wanted to become a real musician and play the guitar for the rest of my life. I began attending college at West Virginia Univerity as a Guitar Performance Major. While I was there I had extensive classical and jazz guitar training. It wasn't really the style of music I wanted to play but the technical aspects of the two styles improved my guitar playing exponentially. Once I got out of college I began working as a full time musician. I played in some bands, played a lot of shows and made some money. At that time I was only playing lead guitar, that had been my goal from the start. To be a great lead guitarist! Funny thing was, the better I became as a lead player, the less I cared about playing fast and all of the flashy stuff most people think of when they see a great guitar player. I began to appreciate the music more, and how I could express myself with my instrument within the confines of the song. This is where my style changed from flashy and fast, to more expressive and more melodic. (As you can probably tell from the tunes I have posted) I still play fast sometimes, but only when it feels appropriate. After some minor success with a couple of bands I realized that if I was going to make it as a musician, I had to learn to sing. I began singing and playing on my own just before I joined the Army ( student loans :( ) I was stationed in Germany for two years where I played throughout the Hessen and Rhainlnd Pfalz regions. I actually became quite popular around the area and was actually know by some pretty flattering nicknames, that I shall not repeat because my ego is not that big. I also started a band while I was there called the "Part Time Pimps" We only had the opportunity to play a few shows before I had to leave the country. Now I am in Cuba and in 12 more months I will be out of the Army for good and I can resume my career once again. I am currently recording my first album and hope to have it released by May 09. It will be available for download on Itunes, rhapsody, amazon, and napster. I have played a few times since i have been here at gitmo and hope to begin playing more shows once I am done recording. I also have some videos on Youtube and my website danieljaggiemusic.com is currently under construction. If you have any questions, please ask, if you would like to book me for a show or party, just message me.
