About Danielle Braund
Ready to hit he road with a new EP, and a spacious car, Danielle is weeks away from a new album, and a new life.
DANIELLE BRAUND'S voice is what sets her apart. She is a powerful vocalist crafting emotional and involving compositions. To these melodies Danielle brings a big voice reminiscent of Annie Lennox.
Music fans of many stripes have experienced Danielle's powerful performance when she opened for such high-profile acts as BOYZ II MEN, KIM MITCHELL and SEAN KINGSTON.
From intimate coffee shops and wine bars to pulsating clubs, Danielle finds a way to connect with her fans. Armed with a keyboard and her voice she silences rooms with her original songs and fresh renditions of classics.
Raised in Alberta, surrounded by the rawness of roots music, Danielle's love of music was shaped from an early age by an exposure to a broad spectrum of music. Her mother headed the Audio department at the local public library, and would bring home music ranging from folk to classical, world, and rock.
Carrying this background to university, Danielle received classical voice training and was urged by her music professors to study opera, but Danielle had other plans. Danielle set off to Detroit to further hone her jazz piano and improvisation skills. At the same time, she began composing her own music. There is nothing quite like the act of writing one's own material and Danielle loves the challenge and artistic freedom it offers. And people are noticing these writing skills. Most recently, Danielle received an HONORABLE MENTION in the INTERNATIONAL WEST COAST SONG WRITING CONTEST.
In New York, Danielle got serious in the recording studio, completing a single with Producer/Songwriter Wendy Starland (Moby, VH1 Emerging Artist of the Year). With the confidence of a single under her belt, she went to work on her first full-length album "No Tears" (2007), produced by Stephen Joseph (New York/Nashville). When not recording, she spent weekends performing as the featured artist at Asylum bar, or with local musicians at clubs.
Most recently she is completing a new Ep with Juno nominated Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen, Laurell).
Currently, Danielle Braund is organizing performances across North America where she knows she'll encounter new influences and lovers of great music.
